Positive result from New South Wales government

 February 21, 2010, 1:11 pm (1 year ago)
According to the New South Wales government, there has been a small but encouraging drop in the figure of problem gamblers in the region.

The gambling survey was carried out by telephone and then added in the NSW Population Health Survey at the demand of Gaming and Racing Minister Kevin Greene, and saw 0.4% of the state’s adult population are problem gamblers, dropped from the latest review in 2006 that indicated the rate to be 0.8%. 2.5% were low-risk gamblers and 1.2% was reasonable gamblers.

The statistics put NSW lesser than the state of Victoria in the problem gambling stakes, and on a par with South Australia and Queensland.

Greene reported that the study results indicated measures released by the NSW government to aid problem gamblers were effective.
