iMEGA vs. Kentucky
May 24, 2009, 10:40 am (2 years ago)The Interactive Media Entertainment and Gaming Association (iMEGA) is ready to conduct its 2 main legal actions in opposition to officials in 2 states exceeding their authority in actions in opposition to the online gambling business.
In the action in opposition to Kentucky governor Steve Beshear’s effort to taking control of 141 worldwide domain names owned by parties located outside the bluegrass state, iMEGA and the IGC, advocated by a lot of public rights and Internet freedom groups, were triumphant previously this year in overturning a lower court’s order advocating the governor’s actions after starting up an appeal with the Kentucky Court of Appeals. The present standing of the action is that the governor has appealed in opposition to the appeal ruling, bringing the issue to the state Supreme Court.
To challenge the governor’s move, iMEGA and other concerned parties have until June 1st 2009 to file reactions to the governor’s alleges. iMEGA spokesmen have stated that this doesn’t indicate a problem since nothing actually new has came out from the governor’s most recent move, and the responses have been complete for the past 2 months and are going to be filed soon.
