Senator Ray Lesniak’s efforts to legalizing sports betting in the state of Jersey got a big increase this week when Governor Jon Corzine revealed his support.

The Internet freedom support group iMEGA flagged the move as part of its watching brief on business expansions ready to impact its legitimate proceedings in opposition to the US Department of Justice.
Governor Corzine verified that he would try to mediate in favor of a federal proceedings filed by state Sen. Lesniak in an attempt to turn over a federal prohibition on sports betting in New Jersey and 45 other states.

Governor Corzine stated that the federal government’s exclusion of sports betting for some but not all states is basically unjust and that there should be consistency in the application of federal regulation. If one state is authorized to legalize betting on sports events, all states should be authorized the same chance.
