Jerry Yang, who grew up in poverty in the South East Asian country, before spending years in a Thai refugee camp, came from the shadows to win the event. "I lived in the mountains, very, very poor. I didn't own a ball or marbles,” he said. Yang, who now lives in the USA, promised to donate 10 percent of his winnings to charity. The World Series Of Poker has been running since 1970 and remains one of the most eagerly watched poker events in the world.
