Casino News: 5000 votes motivation

5000 votes motivation

 August 18, 2008, 10:24 am (7 years ago)
Andrew Curtis, perhaps the most well known and quoted general Las Vegas specialist in the industry, executed a poll on Internet gambling previous this month on his well-liked Las Vegas Advisor.com site, drawing 5 000 voters who devastatingly backed up legalized online gambling in the US.
The Las Vegas Advisor poll indicated again that there is a tough upsurge of backup for the activity, on this event by a margin of 68 % to 32 %. Of specific interest were the basis for the pro votes - 27 % specified they did not play, however, took it an American individual's right to do so.

The poll carried out from July 30 to August 12 and raised the question: "Should online gamble be legitimate? Are you tired of latest affairs on "gambling in space"?

Instead of letting answer in a easy "yes" or "no" option, Curtis prepared five answers to select from, then showing the results on 16 August as below:

Question: Should online gambling be ruled and legitimate in the U.S.? Select whichever answer best describes how you think.

Yes, even though I’m not so into playing online myself, I believe everybody should have the right to. 1275 votes - 27 %.

Yes, and I don’t mind playing online for money if it was obviously officially permitted. 1104 votes - 23 %.

Yes, I have never quit playing online but it will be better if it was absolutely authorized and regulated. 848 votes - 18 %.

No, there were so many scandals and therefore I don’t believe that it would be regulated. 839 votes - 17 %.

No, I believe online casinos will cause underage gambling and dependence. 733 votes - 15 %.

The whole vote was one of the biggest yet in the Las Vegas Advisor sequence of polls and indicated there was "...booming backup for corroboration. But, the increase in the Yes/No percentages was narrower than in other polls we have seen.

"With all 3 Yes categories was 68 %, they were supporting corroboration, at the same time as 32 % were opposed by means of 2 No categories. That’s a persuasive majority, but below the 75 %t - 92 % (supportive) that we have seen from other sources," Curtis explained - probably referring to a main Wall Street Journal poll previous this year.

"Our poll was special from most on this topic in that it gave options to qualify a Yes or No vote," Curtis continued, noting that this yielded some remarkable outcome.

"To begin with, bearing in mind that the 17 % who voted No because of latest scandals,' it can be disputed that as high as 85 % would be supportive if online gambling was correctly organized," he explained. "However, it demonstrates as well that online issues (hole-card spying in poker possibly being the most well-known ) are not going un-regarded.

"We think it is interesting as well that the usual 15 % or so that are firmly against online gambling exist even here, on a Las Vegas and gambling website.

"The major cause for a Yes vote was the essential rights-and-liberties argument—"if they wish to play, let them play. And a firm 41 % showed that they either do by now, or would, gamble online if there was appropriate rule.

"It’s an outcome that motivates us to consider previous tactics to act as a go-between for players and trustworthy websites. We do not predict dependable rule in the near future, but responsible third-party mistake seems to be the next best thing—but only if that third party had sufficient influence with the online websites to make use of pressure," Curtis explained.
