According to the news source of The Antigua Sun, a new row has broken out between the United States and Antigua. This is causing a bitter dispute over online gambling.
A new complaint has already been lodged by Antigua with the World Trade Organization. Antiguans are claiming that US officials have leaked a strictly confidential WTO report prematurely.
Dr. Errol Cort, Finance and the Economy Minister of Antigua and Barbuda announced this week that Antigua government had filed a complaint with the WTO over leaking of a strictly confidential report from U.S. officials.
Settlement body of World Trade Organization will release the final report late this week regarding the quarrel between Antigua & Barbuda and the United States in the filed of Internet gambling.
Dr. Cort said "The WTO had specifically said to all parties that. No party should say anything in respect of the matter. Unfortunately the U.S. has gone and they have said a lot of things and we have protested".
The minister also added,"We've written to the WTO that while all parities were asked to remain confidential in terms of the interim report, we have kept our side, but the U.S. has not".
Dr. Cort also expressed that the WTO has since reiterated its request to both parties that the report should be kept strictly confidential until it is published.
He is also expecting a full statement on the final World Trade Organization report and its influence on the gaming industry once it is released.
