BODOG layoff around 150 employees

Unconfirmed reports in online media including Poker News Daily and 911 show that the Bodog online gambling group has fired "hundreds of employees" this week in what is being explained as a predecessor to leaving the US market, even though this has been renounced by company spokesmen.
There are accusations that the company has been paying customers slowly in latest months, even though this might well be a not rare issue related to dealing out American payments caused by the UIGEA.

It is recognized that the company has been executing a resolute push into Europe and Asia from the beginning of 2008, even though to the extent that online poker operations are anxious this is not yet mirrored in their newest PokerScout rankings, which have indicated a drop in the average number of real cash players per week, replacing the operation at number 14 under networks like Cake, Absolute and Microgaming.

Last year, after fierce legal problems about exclusive rights with First Technology LLC, Bodog could not get hold of management of its initial domains in a $48 million default judgments by US courts. Creator and at that time President Calvin Ayre then contracted an agreement with Morris Mohawk Gaming Group of Kahnawake, Quebec, delivering it the rights to utilize the Bodog brand to provide customers all the way through North America, while worldwide operations stayed in Antigua.

It seems that the company subsequently transferred most of its operations from Vancouver to Montreal - a short distance from the Kahnawake First Nation cooperative where Morris Mohawk is positioned. The latest administration, as said by Poker News Daily’s source inside Bodog, lost a lot of quality employees who didn’t want move from Vancouver.

"The employees that had developed to produce Bodog one of the best internets gambling websites in the world had, essentially, turned over," the information website opines. In additional latest periods, Ayre revealed his everlasting departure from Bodog, and hasn’t appeared anywhere in the market ever since.

It is presently claimed - once more on the foundation of accusations by an unidentified insider - that in the past week, Bodog has fired around 250 workers in Canada, from customer support to executives, and recruitment levels are at present down to about 200 workers, divide evenly among Vancouver and Montreal. Advertising management has departed after a suspension in the actions of that department.

Neither Bodog nor Morris Mohawk had replied to InfoPowa needs for verification as we went to press, but any comment received is going to be executed as information.

I can't confirm the total number of layoffs from other Bodog operations, but it is true that 36 or more people were laid off on the spot at the Kahnawake location on August 21st. I was in one of 2 training classes that were "let go" on that day. Other recent trainees were also laid off, not to mention a number of employees who had been working there just under the 3 month probationary term, some of whom had relocated from Vancouver just for the job. A serious gong show.
