Legal Shadow on Lord Glentoran By BetonSportsJanuary 18, 2007, 11:05 am (4 years ago)A key prosecutor overseeing the online gambling case, that has seen a recent wave of media attention, has reportedly asked a judge to consider the arrest of directors for their ‘wilful disregard’ of the court's proceedings. Irish Shadow Minister Lord Glentoran could be first in the line of fire as the case of the now defunct online gambling site BetonSports is dragged through the courts. The peer of the House of Lords is also on the board of directors at BetonSports, and has been critised by former customers of the site for doing little to assist their compensation claims, although representatives from the online gaming operator have issued variety of compensation dates to customers. “[BetonSports decision] suggests that corporate management is neither in a coma nor dead but, instead, contemptuous and defiant,'' said Fagan. Prosecutor Michael Fagan’s attack comes after the company’s former attorney Jeffrey Demerath told US District Judge Carol Jackson in St. Louis that his clients had instructed him not to appear to answer charges against the firm.
