 December 23, 2008, 8:37 am (2 years ago)
According to Redding, northern California, a local thief attempted to gamble at 2 casinos using unusual coins he had stolen in a robbery.
The Shasta County sheriff's department is taking 37 years old James Smith of Anderson as a suspect for break-in and getting identified stolen assets. He and another man are suspected to have converted the collector's coins for $50 at Win-River Casino in Redding, apparently not knowing that the coins actually worth approximately $6 300. The two men then attempted to do the same deal at the Rolling Hills Casino in Corning on the next day but the alarm had been raised.

Anderson's companion was believed not taking part in criminal activity and was set free.
