Dutch Senate approved taxation bill
September 11, 2008, 6:15 am (3 years ago)Early reports indicated that the Dutch Senate approved a proposed gaming taxation bill this week that is going to allow the government to tax games of chance, such those supplied by overseas online operators whom the Dutch have up till now impeached as illegitimate in defense of the state control. The bill is reported as well to hold stipulations aimed on individuals who win at overseas online gaming websites.
Dutch politicians seem to extensively favor the bill, mostly because it assits to make sure that: "illegitimate online gaming is not delivered benefit over gaming in the real world", a condition to the Holland Casino in which the state is main investor.
Beginning of this year the Dutch Senate barely refused an revision to the Dutch Betting and Gaming Act that will have given Holland Casino an special license in the Netherlands to give online gaming on a trial basis. At the time there was conjecture that the politicians were anxious about European Commission interference looking to safe observance with EU doctrine of free movement of trade and services.
The bill calls for amendment in the law on tax about Internet gambling, an alteration of taxation systems for conjugal suppliers of illegitimate online gaming, in addition to individuals who win at overseas online gaming websites. It is acknowledged that the drafting way to the legislation has connection to a cross-section of Dutch political parties.
