Harsh life for internet gambling operators
July 27, 2008, 10:05 am (3 years ago)It will not going to be easy, rather, it will be very hard for Internet cafe operators trying their hands at online gambling in the Perak northern state of Malaysia. Local administration authorities and the Perak Cyber Centre Association have warned so.
Why? It is because of a scheduled raid against online gambling. “We have announced a one-month prior warning to the cyber cafe operators,” told Nga Kor Ming, Chairman for the state’s Education, Local Government, Housing and Public Transport Committee to the media, saying that there had been too much objections concerning Internet gambling by minors at cyber cafes.
“We don’t assume that all cyber cafes are running like gambling dens,” said Nga. "However, there are some ankle-biters that even offer loans to students and charge them loan very high interest. We wish to warn those cyber cafe operators that we will shut them down straight away. No negotiations and no appeals.”
He revealed that there exist 241 licensed cyber cafes in the state whilst additional 19 were running with no license.
