The European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) launched a broad area of standards that contains all aspects of player protection, fair gaming and accountable operator behavior in the online gaming and betting surroundings this week. These principles balance strict legal requirements already forced by European Union licensing jurisdictions.
More than 170 technological obligations have been brought in on a controlled basis to make consideration on all characteristics of online gaming and betting related services.

As part of their membership baseline, EGBA members are obligatory to obey all criteria. Abidance is confirmed by a required yearly inspection carried out by eCOGRA, a top standards and player protection body, which itself is yearly targeted to a complete quality reassurance evaluation by one of the world’s top firms of auditors.

This plan reflects EGBA’s (then EBA) code of manner, which was previously introduced in 2003 and follows other industry plans. Self-imposed restriction is crucial in the online gaming and betting industry so that it would be possible to continuously take stock of this rapid growing e-Commerce division and remain in front of slower legal growths. It also guarantees, given the cross border character of the division, reliability of principles across Europe to reassure consumers can play in a safe, secure and reliable environment.

“These standards are a sign of our commitment to an exemplary level of corporate and social responsibility. They could serve as a basis for reflection at a time when governments and regulators across Europe are trying to find ways to best protect consumers in the online gaming and betting environment,” saidEGBA Chairman, Norbert Teufelberger. :

These accountable gaming and betting criteria contains procedures such as:

• Endorsing accountable gaming, avoiding juvenile gaming and problem gaming;
• Non tolerance position to fraud or illegal behavior;
• Protecting customers’ confidentiality and protecting their information;
• Assuring fast and exact customer payments;
• Calling into account thoroughly and separately the fairness of games;
• Indulging to rock-solid and principled marketing practice;

"Our goal is to make sure that EGBA has a consequential expert review process for evaluating each member's abidance with agreed and constantly applied standards, which consumers and regulators have come to be expecting in the online gaming and betting industry,”said eCOGRA CEO Andrew Beveridge.

The European Gaming and Betting Association contain most of Europe's tier one online gambling companies with its members.
