Culture Media and Sports in UK Challenge The GovernmentJune 24, 2007, 9:27 am (5 years ago)The department of Culture Media and Sports in UK is now challenged by the Poker Club Association in UK who called the department as “completely illogical” this was the protest of the Spokesperson of the poker club because it seems the government is inattentive to the industry’s attempt to communicate.
This is the same protest with Penny Cobham of British Casino Association, he pointed out the lawmaking body is conceding the growth of the new casinos, “they were introduced yet there is no formal and specific consultations, the industry’s and stakeholders as well.” Defending the clubs for poker, he explained that the location is not suite for poker, without training of staff, or the facilities that are suitable, the main activity will be gambling, to play for unlimited stakes or prizes, but not for the clubs of poker then it is pathetic.” He goes on to say that the rise of an underground poker will eventually start an unregulated situation. The Poker Club Association in UK already file a review in the legislature to stand their stand with DCMS’s. There is a far strong case with the poker club association against the Department of Culture Media and Sports. The casino owners have something of a caution story, some of them who owned the 90% of UK’s venues had challenge DCMS’s plan to build the casinos. Those challenges had been rejected by the High court’s Justice Langstaff he claims that the commercial opportunities in competition is not a part of the law.
