John Phan

International poker pro John ‘Razor’ Phan, lately the champion of 2 WSOP bracelets in 2008, has again taken down a main competition – this time for more than $1,000,000.

In the 2008 World Series of Poker, Phan won the $3,000 No Limit Hold ‘em event for $439k and the $5,000 2-7 Triple Draw event for $151k. Now these last 3 victories take his total competition incomes to $5.3million.

Heads-up was a rollercoaster ride, with both Phan and eventual runner-up Amit Makhijah played intensely skilled poker. Phan pulled ahead with a massive four-to-one chip lead but amazingly Makhijah pulled back to reclaim the lead. Eventually, though, Makhijah found himself coming up short, albeit netting $563,720 for his efforts.
