This year's Democratic Party national convention which will take place in the Pepsi Centre, August 25-28 in Denver, Colarado is going to provide as well the background for a charity poker tourney formed by the one million strong Poker Players Alliance - again and collecting consideration to the difficulty of US poker players at the same time as collecting money for a praiseworthy reason.
Players in the 4 hour tourney are gong to each receive 5 000 in chips, with every winnings from the competition contributed to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, a congressionally contracted veterans service association that has been running since 1946 and helps veterans from America's wars with matters that varies from health care and education to accessibility and sports programs.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the PPA is sure that the arrangements are in full observant with the regulation.

It is anticipated that about 200 expert poker players, lawmakers, aides and delegates...and PPA members.... are going to be taking part in the competition.

In close immediacy, actor celebrity Ben Affleck is hosting a charity poker competition at Coors field, home of the Colorado Rockies baseball stars.

The Paralyzed Veterans of America is going to be the recipients as well of charity funds raised by "Poker at the Ball Park" which is said to bring some big names from the poker world, ante-ing up to assist the increasing number of American veterans who have sustained spinal cord injuries whilst serving in the military.

"The Poker Player Alliance is proud to host this charity poker competition and expecting to raise loads of money for these American heroes," explains previous Senator Alfonse D'Amato, chairman of the PPA.

"This is a wonderful chance to tie together the fame of the game of poker with the intention of raising much required funds for those who have battled to guard our country and our individual freedoms."

Other than Ben Affleck, no less than 2 main poker celebrities have by now registered for the occasion - Andy Bloch and Barry Greenstein, with more anticipated registering soon.

Buy-ins to play in the event is $500 or $250 for spectators. The grand reward is a 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event buy-in, estimated at $10 000, and the competition is going to be carried on by a VIP reception that begins at 9:30 p.m.

The Republican Party is scheduling its meeting the following week in Minneapolis-St. Paul....but political party poker playing, even it’s for charity, is improbable to be on the agenda!
