Day 1d of WSOP

 July 8, 2008, 9:10 am (3 years ago)
Up to now over four thousand people have been eligible, won or paid $10,000 to participate in the most high-status poker tournament in the world. Over the past three days, just under two-thirds of them have had a very early exit, failing to go on their respective ‘Day 1s’ because of bad luck or bad play.
Day 1d, the ‘final day one’, kicks off later today and will see all the prize money collected. The first-place prize and total prize pool will be revealed this week.
This year has been called the ‘year of the pro’ and to there is a reason for that. Several well-known players are through to the second day of the tournament.
Brian ‘sbrugby’ Townsend, the famous CardRunners instructor and high-stakes No-Limit Hold‘em and Pot Limit Omaha player, has made it to the second day.
Brad Booth, Evelyn Ng and David Singer all have chipstacks above the $100,000 mark but it is worth consider that tens of millions, not thousands are necessary to hit the final table.
