Doyle Brunson, poker legend
December 13, 2007, 10:51 am (4 years ago)Doyle Brunson, poker legend, has apparently passed down some of his gaming genes to his daughter, Pamela. Pamela Brunson was crowned champion at the fifth annual ladies night event at the Los Angeles based Bicycle Casino. Competitors in the event included such greats as Evelyn Ng and Kathy Liebert. She took first prize to claim over $34,000 and a seat in the ever coveted World Poker Tour Ladies Night Out on August 31st.
Doyle Brunson, Pamela’s father, is known as the “Godfather of Poker”. It’s more than evident that she has inherited some of her father’s playing skill, but when it came right down to it, the winning was all Pamela. She stated, after the event, “I am so excited. Apart from a seat into the WPT Ladies Night Out, an invitational event where I will be playing against five women poker players, I also won a beautiful ring, a pink poker chip set, jacket and, of course, the trophy that crowns me LPA Tour No-Limit Hold ’Em Tournament winner. At least, that’s what the trophy states.”
Pamela also serves as ambassador for DoylesRoom.com, an online gaming and education site. Visitors to the site can learn about poker with videos from Mike Caro, and play games geared for all levels of skill. During the summer months, the site also has a number of weekly Summer Series Freerolls, building up to a $25,000 Grand Finale, in which one winner will be presented with the opportunity to play heads-up poker against the Godfather of Poker himself, Doyle Brunson.
