A conflict in the Philippines local and national officials has been created because of picking of who was the rightful authority to issue licensing’s the internet gambling.
The dispute is between the Zamboanga’s City Special Economic Zone and Freeport Authority and Philippines Amusement and Gaming Corporation.
In the southern part of Mindanao, Special Economic Zone is located about 15 miles from Zamboanga, they are managed with separate territories. Incentives will be offered to those who would like to invest in order to generate local economic activity who serves as a jumping off point in promotion of trading, investments and tourism in the region.
The issuance of license should be inside the Zone, this was provided for legal purposes in the Philippines by the Justice Secretary Raul Gonzales, the confirmation of license should be issued by another office the Philippines E-Gaming Jurisdiction Inc. they sustain the office for controlling iGaming and other related activity. PeJi is authorized to receive and process all applications for a business operator, under the said license.
But the company of PagCor states that PeJI’s operation is not legal, this orders ZSEZ authorities to freeze operations. This new directives has been disregarded by ZSEZ to assert that they are empowered to issue licenses by law.
Although there is possibility to take legal actions that can result in overturning in the Department of Justice because of the opinions with legalities.
