Fugitive stung into a response by financial Times storyApril 18, 2007, 9:29 pm (4 years ago)It has not been the first time that someone who is the actual subject of a media report has actually denied the claims that have been made and accused the publishers of an unprofessional reportage. Gambling911, the online gambling portal, in the latest case is BetonSports fugitive known as Norman Steinberg who is now currently being sought by the United States Department of Justice on what is known as a series of charges that include money laundering and also racketeering that is linked to the sportsbetting activities of BetonSports.com.
In all actuality, 911 reports that Steinberg, who they are now claiming to be presently located in Costa Rica has now begun to lash out at the UK’s Financial Times over their reportage in an article that was published late Tuesday of this week. In the report, the Financial Times apparently wrote that Steinberg once bragged about his “criminal past” just months before the BetonSports IPO. The paper actually claimed that he wrote under an alias name ‘Millennium Sportsbook” in September of 2004, that “I’ve been in the can and pushed around by the Feds…and ya know what??...I’m still ticking”. Steinberg actually told 911, “this man (referring to the author of the financial times piece) has failed to check his sources and doesn’t have a clue as to what he is speaking about.” Steinberg has served a brief sentence for an offense that is unrelated to internet gambling, 991 reports. I guess that maybe there are times that the papers can be wrong.
