Casino News: Winds of Change

The WTO known as the World Trade Organization recently announced yet again that the Draconian US laws against online gambling are in fact breaking international trade agreements. This good news is already making vibes in the stock market as online casino stocks are on the rise. The World Trade Organization decision followed a claim by Barbados and Antigua, two Caribbean Islands that enjoyed some benefits to their economies by hosting the online casino industry in their premises. Their first steps to ensure the continual cooperation with online casino started at April 2005. It was decided way back then, that the US laws were not aligned with the international trade agreements causing injustice.

There is always a way to get around the laws, if you take the time to do the required research to prove that the laws are really uncalled for. In this case the laws are breaking the international trade agreements and that could in fact cause a large dispute over the issue at hand.

The United States government was given a year to make emends following that decision. However, since then, the US government has taken even more strict measures against the online casino industry making it completely illegal. But if that wasn’t enough, how can we forget the lynch practiced in the US against the online casino operators passing through the US. The United States has also tried to make sure that there are no companies that are even handling casino gambling transactions as far as the money is concerned. They want to make sure that there are no strings tying gambling to the United States, but why do they think that all these measures are required?

This has caused many changes in the industry as many online casino companies ceased to accept bets from US citizens. There shouldn’t be a problem with United States citizens placing a bet, it is there money and if they want to spend it they should be able to. The government is just trying to make it harder on them. But as Antigua and Barbados continue their just struggle, they may not remain alone in their fight. The Democratic Party shows signs of joining in to cancel anti internet gambling law, with the senate leading the way. The Chairmen of the financial services committee, one of the strongest committees in senate, has recently voiced his support. He was reported offering a new law to cancel the anti internet gambling laws from last summer stating that those laws are incredibly stupid and should be lifted immediately.

This is surely a step in the right direction, if only they can get the laws dropped. However, if they do drop the laws will be there still be room for the United States in the industry?
