United States Gambling gets a Pessimistic Outlook
April 7, 2007, 10:55 am (4 years ago)A privately held, wholly owned global group of financial services companies by the name of Standford Financial Group has a pessimistic outlook when it comes to online gambling in the United States of America. This is despite of what the UIGEA thinks and feels about the subject of gambling. The current report that has been released suggests that whilst a study of the regulation is possible, it is very unlikely that the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act will be successfully repealed. The report reads “we do not believe there is the political will to overturn this legislation or to carve out poker from the prohibition”. The report also reads “more likely would be legislation authorizing the National Institute of Science or a similar non partisan think tank to study whether internet gambling could be effectively regulated and taxed.” See, the main ordeal about internet gambling is the fact that it doesn’t necessary mean that the government doesn’t want it, it just the fact that the government can’t find a way to make money off of it. If there were a way to let the government in on gambling legally so that they so would make profit, I don’t think they would have a care in the world about internet gambling. Do you?
They also expect the Federal Government to release shortly the rules governing how banks should stem the flow of financing the internet gambling sites. See once again the government is trying to make sure that internet gambling is cut out all together but are they thinking about their selves or are they thinking about the jobs that they are taking away from other people. Why should the government be able to tell a bank what to do? If they put limits on the flow of financing to these websites they are cutting the bank’s hands off so they can’t make any money either. The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, was passed last fall by the United States Government, and contains a provision that prohibits Internet gamblers in the United States from using credit cards, cheques, or electronic fund transfers to settle their wagers.
In the long run, all the government is going to do is cause a big up roar on the subject of internet gambling, I personally don’t think that internet gambling is such a bad thing, because whoever participates in it is doing on their own.
