Gambling Addicts in South Africa

You now it is very sad to open the paper and read a report where children have been left by their parents in the casino foyers while they gamble the night away. This is exactly what some gambling addicts in South Africa are doing; they are getting so carried away in the casino that they forget that they have children that they are responsible for. This is sick, parents should know better than to carry their children even around a place like that than to leave them in the foyer so that everyone there will be able to see what type of parents they are.

Here recently, a couple that was leaving the casino around two in the morning, found an eight year old little girl crying in the foyer. They tried to comfort her but only to find out by security officials that she had been there since seven the night before. Her parents were summoned immediately only to find that they were under the influence of liquor and had gotten carried away gambling and lost track of the time and apparently their little girl too.

You know the most common punishment for this crime is child abuse, but not in this case, they were only banned from the casino for three months. However, who is to say that they want just visit another one of the many casinos in South Africa and do the same thing again. Keep in mind that nine out of ten of these children have to get up and go to school the next day. After the staff was interviewed at several of the casinos, it was found that this type of situation happens all the time.

In many cases, children can be found in cars asleep in the back seat or infants can be found crying all alone in the car. What would you do if you seen something like this? As a parent of one child and another one on the way I would not be held responsible for my actions. I know the first thing would be call the law and try and get the parents convicted of child abuse. That isn’t mean either, it is just right.

If parents have children and can’t find a sitter they should stay at home and play Blackjack or whatever right on the internet so that their children are safe and so are they.
