Proposal to Increase Taxation of Online Gambling

This New Year has lead to the increase in proposals for implementation of secondary taxation on offshore UK gambling operators. For this purpose, one of the selected parliamentary committees are considering various aspects of casino industry, along with possibility of taxation and secondary licensing of online gambling operations. They have described that how proposal for large numbers of super land-based casinos is different from others. They also have mentioned that proposal of many betting outlets were put on probation as Labor government had predicted that this may result in problem gambling.

William Hill, leading online gambling operator has conducted a separate survey with Deloitte international professional service group. The result of survey has revealed that increase of increased taxation rate will result in increase of illegal online gambling in UK. Although, Rank gambling group has both online and land-gambling operations, its chairman and CEO Ian Burke, has highlighted operators of online gambling operators pay comparatively low taxation rates than land based gambling operators.
