 November 1, 2011, 7:57 am (2 days ago)
Few days back, Minister Presidents of the German Lander proposed the adoption of draft State Treaty on online gambling. However, EC rejected this proposal. Hawkswood, the CEO of Remote Gambling Association (RGA) had shown his disappointment by stating that the proposal, which German wants to implement by next year, will limit the number of licenses to be issued to operators by 20, impose unviable 5% tax and ban online casinos and live betting. He mentioned that there exists, no relation between the willingness of providing regulated gambling market to German citizens and the original text written in State Treaty.

He also made this clear that the expressed proposal will bring no effect in limiting the large number of German players, who are playing at online casinos, licensed by some other jurisdictions. Finally, CEO of RGA had also revealed that European Commission has clearly mentioned that the draft of State Treaty has violated with European Union regulations. Hence, such an approach will simply leads to undesirable and confusing situations for German players.
