Wayne Rooney Sr. along with footballer Steve Jennings were arrested as part of an investigation related with suspicious wagering patterns. This arrest operation was outcome of 9 months investigation done against the gambling scandals. The arrest was resulted after last year's match between Heart of Midlothian Football and Motherwell Club. Second half penalty during this match resulted in victory of Hearts against Motherwell by 2-1. However, it was suspected that Steve Jennings, who was central midfielder for Motherwell Club had intentionally received red card during Football game.
The investigation has highlighted the number of people who have betted on red card during this match. It was found from one account in Liverpool that 500GBP was bet on red card at odds of 10/1 during the game. Wayne Rooney Sr. and Richie Rooney were arrested at home in the north of Liverpool, but were released after some time. However, Steve Jennings along with four other suspects will remain under the custody.
