Piggs Peak lost Legal Case against National Gambling Board of South Africa
October 2, 2011, 5:10 am (2 months ago)The legal case of Piggs Peak casino with National Gambling Board of South Africa was ended after their appeal had rejected by Appeal court of Bloemfontein. The issue was that where online casino games take place. Piggs Peak online casino stated that online games are conducted on operator’s servers and not on the hardware of players. Since, servers belonged to Swaziland, where, online casino games are legal so, they have also maintained legal position in South Africa. However, Justice of Appeal Court, had rejected their appeal by stating that online casino games occur, where players are present and not where servers are located and so they cannot be considered as legal there.
South African National Gambling Board, after getting favor from court, starts proceeding with prosecution of both players and operators. By considering this matter, Gambling Review Commission has suggested that online gambling should be made legal in South Africa. However, until then, this is considered illegal irrespective of the actual location of servers.
