Illegal Online Gambling Operations in Malaysia and Philippines

Star Online of Malaysia had reported on statement given by Ahmad, chief assistant commissioner of CID, who said that during past 9 months, 820 people were arrested and 4,036 computers has been seized because of illegal gambling. The actions were taken under Entertainment and Places of Entertainment Enactment 1997 and Common Gaming House Act 1953 for this illegal activity. Further, Chief of Malaysian police have told that until now, they have only charged operators and owners, but they will also charge players involved in illegal gambling as per the provisions of gambling laws.

This week, Philippines police were also engaged in conducting raids against illegal online gambling activities. One member of CIDG group have said that raids results in 20 arrests including Korean Jopok crime cell for illegal online baccarat and blackjack casinos in Pasig City. During the raid, police have seized 6 cartons of playing cards, 6 blackjack and baccarat tables, eighteen state-of-the-art computers and CCTV video streaming and audio equipment.
