 September 26, 2011, 10:43 am (2 months ago)
CJEU has revealed its decision for which online gambling operators were waiting from a long time. However, the answer is not in favor of the foreign operators or gamers or for competition.

The decision is in favor of Austria i.e. no foreign online casino operators are allowed to do business in the country, instead only the state run gaming operations will be able to so business here.

Two businessmen were trying to offer online gaming but police have started criminal proceedings against them as both of them went against the Austrian law.

This is a terrible news for the entrepreneurial operators. We all are aware of the fact that competition is good for business and for customers as well. Sigrid Ligné, who is Secretary General of the group, commented, “The ruling indicates that there's an urgent need of an inclusive EU framework that would fully control the lines of online gambling across the border.”
