A spokesman from Alberta Gaming has rectified earlier statements from the organization and states that it is not going to introduce Internet gambling as proposed media reports published recently.
Marilyn Carlyle Helms, a Spokeswoman has commented that the media has overplayed her comments by announcing that Alberta is now taking a consideration online gaming. She also added that online gambling is "a huge phenomenon” through out the world presently, but Alberta is not stepping in to the arena of Internet gaming.
Alberta earns around $1.3 billion a year mostly from VLTs, casinos and bingo as gaming revenues.
Carlyle-Helms also said that the gaming section of her company is conducting some telephonic and online surveys with 800 Albertan to find out if they are frequent to online gambling.
She has added that, the province has been keeping observation on this issue for more than five years, as Internet gambling is still illegal in Alberta.
