Online Gambling Law Passed in Greece

The government of Greece was facing a real bad time due to the financial reforms which was also inclusive of the online gaming. The ministry of finance got the bill passed by a simple majority after 3 days of the debate.

Contrary to the expectation, the parliament of Greece has taken a u turn at some of the controversial features from the draft which was then rejected by the Gambling European Commission.

One of the prospective which has been taken out of the proposals is the final legislation which is the blackout period of the six month which was prior to the regulation and the legalization which was made for the protection of the OPAP which is the State owned Monopoly.

The clause which restricts the licenses numbers has been scrapped apparently. Clive Hawkswood, the chief executive of RGA also appreciated the changes, but also added that there are several areas of concern which ensures of a competitive and equitable market place involving OPAP and the private operators.
