The American Wagering Inc.'s Leroy's application which accesses the state residents to place sports bets via their BlackBerry smart phones has been approved by the Nevada Gaming Control Board. A company executive affirmed it on Monday.

The decision by the board makes the American Wagering, the first company in the US with a sanctioned smart phone application for betting. For regulatory approval the company also submitted its application on the Google’s Android Platform.

Mark Lipparelli, Chairman of the Nevada Gaming Control Board commented that each of these applications are subjected to testing and review to prove that the "technology can be rendered inoperative at the state border."

He refused to authenticate as of whether other gaming firms had filed applications for the mobile sports wagering.

American Wagering operates Sports Place Inc. and 76 Leroy’s Horse outlets, and self service kiosks at the casino floors in the entire state.
