Greece Government says “Yes” to Online Gambling

The online gambling laws are considerably strict in and around the European countries. Numerous countries have placed a partial or a full ban on online gambling and allied activities. However there are still many that have permitted the monopolies to continue.


Recently, several countries have initiated steps in the favor of gambling in accordance with the EU laws. Greece was the latest country to have permitted online gambling. Lawmakers have stated that the online gambling regulations would be coming on the inset of 2011 according to the EU agreements.

Greece will not be placing a ban on the online gambling and is also looking forward to lift the ban on the low stakes slot machines. Formerly in 2002 the low stakes slot machines have been banned. However OPAP, the betting monopoly was exempted from the ban and was allowed to trade. This attracted heavy fines as it was a violation of the EU laws.
