Sri Lanka is tagged as the most recent country to regulate gambling fully. The country is known for its picturesque beaches, rain forests and strategic naval locations, Sri Lanka is also acknowledged as “The Pearl of the Indian Ocean”.
Now, the administration wants to insert another element to entice its guests, casinos. Betting has been legalized in the country. There are several gambling shops on the island. Most of these sites proffer gambling on international horse racing and allied events.
The Srilankan government has affirmed that the casino business will now be fully controlled and regulated by the state and that it will be fully legalized. This will bestow casinos in Sri Lanka and the government with many benefits. Firstly, a regulated casino system is more alluring to tourists. They know that a casino must get hold of a license and meet stringent rules.
The casino industry will also benefit the government. It will bring returns in the forms of fees and taxes. The administration of Sri Lanka has acknowledged that they desire to enhance tourism in the coming six years. Having regulated casinos is perceived to be among one of the initial steps of courting worldwide visitors.
