Online Gambling in Canada
May 9, 2010, 11:22 am (1 year ago)Recently, a lot of Canadians have been expressing their point of view towards online gambling within the country. With a lot of the regions putting efforts into legalizing the activity for their citizens, there has been a lot of debate on the legitimacy of the activity by Canadians. Online gambling supporters in Canada have come to the conclusion that online gambling is not unlawful in Canada, but the online casinos within Canada that haven’t obtained license by a local government would be running illegitimately and residents would be banned from gambling at any illegitimate casino within the country.
The Kahnawake Gaming Commission has issued licenses to several MicroGaming online casinos, but the legitimacy of providing licenses within the Kahnawake Territory is puzzling because of Canadian regulations over territories that are owned by the native indian tribes. Apparently, Canadian politicians are concerned on the online gambling profits going out of the country, but they might be missing the point that many of the gaming profits are going into the Kahnawake Territory.
