Youth gambling problem survey

The co-director of the Centre, Dr. Jeff Derevensky, stated to journalists this week that the survey indicated that under-aged gamble players have higher chance of creating a gamble problem than adults, stating: “These rates are two to four times that of adults but they go unobserved since teenagers don’t lose their homes from it or their spouses, so it presents in different ways.”
He was commenting on a telephone meeting with journalists to advertize Parents as Partners, which took a test of 2,700 Canadian parents to determine how “engaged” parents were with the subject of youth gambling.
