Missouri ready to make action to authorize sports betting

 February 9, 2010, 10:32 am (1 year ago)
Missouri politicians are going to be grated the chance to debate additional political suggestion to cancel the Federal Professional and Amateur Sports Promotion Act (PASPA) of 1992 and authorize sportsbetting.

Missouri State Representatives Jason Grill and Mike Colona last week handed out House Concurrent Resolution 22, which request the United States Congress to cancel PASPA, the legislation that bans all but 4 states from providing sports wagering.

Due to a short experiment with parlay sportsbetting in 1976, the states of Delaware, Montana, Nevada and Oregon were excused from the conditions of PASPA, a situation now being confronted by New Jersey, which says it is prejudiced towards other states of the Union. Additionally, legislators in Iowa now suggested legislation that can authorize sportsbetting in the state if the Federal prohibition were to be canceled.
