Casino News: Regulated online poker in Canada

Regulated online poker in Canada

 February 8, 2010, 10:08 am (1 year ago)
This week, the finance minster of Quebec revealed their initial move to bring in online poker to the region by September 2010. The initiative is part of Loto Quebec’s aims to provide an online gambling service, starting with poker games and sports betting.

Raymond Bechand stated that whilst the state is ready to produce around $50 million in the initial 3 years of the new service’s operations, it is anticipated that Loto Quebec is going to ultimately get a much bigger portion of the $675 million online gambling market in Canada, where poker is playing the major role.

However, like always, there are some who are not so happy about the action with the anxiety over the number of problem gamblers are going to increase with the release of the new service.
