Online Casino CEO has additional 33 months to serve

 January 11, 2010, 8:57 am (1 year ago)
David Carruthers, the chief executive of Internet gambling site BetonSports, was sentenced by a US judge to serve less than 3 years for his involvement in the online casino's operations in the US. According to the federal authorities, BetonSports was producing $1.25 billion as its highest income, and did sports gambling business with tens of thousands of US residents.

Any federal regulation hasn’t made it illegitimate; the US Department of Justice still takes it as unlawful, in any case for foreign operators. What is not in argument is that online sports betting relating to US punters is illegitimate, as courts have stated the Wire Act distinctively refers to sports betting, and the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act makes all sports wagering, with exceptions including Nevada sports books, illegal.

US District Court Judge Carol E. Jackson told Carruthers he is going to have to serve additional 33 months in prison, although he has previously served more than 3 years under house arrest whilst awaiting trial.
