Online sportsbetting suspect admits his charges as guilty

Joseph W. LaForte, a New York resident is now serving an imprisonment term on unconnected charges. He confirmed mid-week that he assisted operate an unlawful sportsbetting illegitimate organization that conducted business in numerous states, such as New Jersey.

According to Associated Press, the 39-year-old Staten Island man entered the U.S. District Court in Trenton, pleading guilty to a one-count indictment charging him with scheme to conduct an illegitimate gambling operation.

LaForte has to deal with max of 5 years in jail and a $250,000 fine when he’s sentenced on April 6. He confessed that from 2005 until the beginning of 2006, he and others guided players to place wagers via an unknown Internet gambling site situated outside the United States and shared in the earnings from the business.
