In Sweden an anonymous online gambling company has willingly paid back 4.9 million kronor, about $673 000. This money was stolen by a gambling addict from her employer and wagered at its website.

The unidentified gambler in question was managing an Uppsala company’s finances and embezzled around 15 million kronor to use in her gambling addiction. The stolen funds had an extremely bad effect on the company. This incident resulted in letting go some of its workers as a consequence.

According to the Swedish newspaper The Local, when her illegal actions were found out, the local court sentenced her with 3 years in jail, and ordered to pay back 10 million kronor to the company. The online gambling company then decided on repaying to her company the 4.9 million kronor she had gambled away at its virtual tables, conditional on a privacy agreement being penned by her workers.
