Casino News: French pressure on online casinos

French pressure on online casinos

 November 27, 2006, 3:51 pm (4 years ago)

E-Gaming Review reported briefly that French media reports are indicating more online gambling-hostile moves shaping up in the French National Asembly.

French news site L'Express apparently reported over the weekend that there are political plans in progress in the National Assembly to include two amendments to a bill aimed at the "prevention of delinquency" It is claimed that these amendments will enable banks to "freeze the financial flows of people operating prohibited games on the internet" an compel internet service providers to furnish users with a list of sites banned by the French Ministry of the Interior.

That list is unlikely to include the French government's own monopolistic betting companies, judging by its past commercially protective practices that exclude foreign gambling groups despite its membership of the EU.
