Regulating online gambling is more effective than banning

Throughout testimony previous to the House Financial Services Committee, Parry Aftab, the executive manager of WiredSafety, stated to congressmen that US users are defenseless from recent efforts to prohibit online gambling, and that only controlling the gaming business provides Internet protection to US residents. WiredSafety is a group devoted to guarding Internet users from scam, cyber aggravation, and child exposure to unsuitable sites.

Aftab introduced data to the Committee indicating that the prohibition on Internet gambling is not effective, most probably it can never be able to stop, US residents seem always find the way to play online casinos. He referred to studies indicating that as many as 300,000 US young people gamble online no less than once a week, with that number doubling for once a month.

"Without rules to manage underage gambling, addictive gambling, scam, conspiracy, malware and malicious code, privacy and data protection, criminal involvement, disputes and online security threats, users and families are on their own," explained Aftab.
