More time needed for US online casino legislation

 December 2, 2009, 10:16 am (2 years ago)
Investors and venture industrialists estimating on what to come to the online casinos and Internet gambling industry in the US are anticipating legislative view to be a very sluggish progression. The Wall Street Journal reported that many believe movement by Congress regarding online gambling is going to take more than a year.

In spite of this week's scheduled debate of Barney Frank's bills to control and license online casinos in the House Financial Services Committee, gaming regulation specialists are saying that at the moment, Congress is facing too many imperative issues, a blockage which is going to push action on Internet casinos back months.

“The challenges those bills deal with is the amount of things going on in Washington,” Betfair US President Gerard Cunningham explained. “They have other issues they need to take care now…maybe next year…maybe the year after.”

“The conventional wisdom, and it changes frequently, is that if anything is going to happen it’s going to happen by the end of 2010,” stated the CEO of GameLogic, John Taylor. Taylor told the paper he is a vigilant student of gaming legislation, as his company designs free games utilized by casino websites.
