Disappointing result for Internet cafe operator in Florida

 December 2, 2009, 10:13 am (2 years ago)
The appeal made by the Internet cafe operator who argued that its activities do not infringe state regulation was rejected by a Tallahassee court in Florida this week.

According to the Orlando Sentinel newspaper, Allied Veterans of the World, which has had Internet cafes closed down in Seminole, Marion, Jackson and Pinellas counties, fight back the regulation in the state capital with the hope for a regulation that would at last resolve a long-running issue with enforcement agencies.

The non-profit group collects money for veterans’ causes, using a loophole in the state’s regulation against gambling to operate about 25 cafes around the state.
Since August this year, a range of centers were attacked by police, disturbing business and urging the Allied Veterans to turn to the courts for relief.
