The chief executive of the Macau Special Administrative Region revealed that the local government plans to augment its obligation to Responsible Gambling on the gambling island.

Introducing his yearly report to the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday, CEO Ho Hau Wah stated that officials are going to work with local academic institutions and civil groups in advertizing the perception of “responsible gambling” aiming to ease the negative influence of the island’s gaming trend. Ho’s term of office finishes in December, when another government beneficiary is going to take his position.

Besides the responsible gambling approach, government tries to produce more variety in a financial system which it believes is too reliant on gambling, Ho commented.
According to the Chinese news agency Xinghua, Macau total gaming incomes for the 3rd quarter this year hit 31.78 billion patacas (US$4.02 billion), which was the marked the highest yet recorded, according to the numbers from the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau.
