According to the Cyprus Mail news paper, a 44-year-old from Athena was arrested by the police and the investigation is still continuing for a second accused.

“The operation includes a breakdown of a vast online gambling network. The finding of the case began from Cyprus and police officers from Cyprus traveled to Greece to take part in the investigations,” Justice Minister Loucas Louca announced.

Late last week Cypriot and Greek police officers investigated a great number of establishments in Greece, going after the information that an electronic gambling network being managed there was providing online gambling services to a great number of establishments in both countries.

“The presence of a central server was revealed a year ago and the investigation has resulted in the operation in Greece,” stated police spokesperson Michalis Katsounotos.
2 central servers were revealed in Athens, one located in a private home and the 2nd in the office of a telecommunications company. The man detained in Greece is alleged to have been the owner of the server, and was the legal adviser of the company where the server was revealed.
