New system developed to detect counting cards
October 13, 2009, 12:37 pm (2 years ago)A computer system which can identify card counting and locate errors made by dealers, was created by Kris Zutis, who is a 22 year old computer graduate from the University of Dundee.
The system utilizes sophisticated algorithms to examine details caught by cameras built in casinos, and began as a final year project in Zutis’s Applied Computing degree, in which he put his effort closely with employees from Dundee’s Gala Casino.
The system is by now grabbing the attention internationally, and was featured in the most recent version of the esteemed New Scientist magazine.
Zutis has been requested to introduce his scheme at the International Conference on Computer Vision Systems (ICVS), in Belgium this week, and has arranged a paper named ‘Who’s Counting?: Real-Time Blackjack Monitoring for Card Counting Detection’. The meeting is a key worldwide scientific forum for developments in applications of computer idea, and draws some of the elite names in the field each year.
