Casino News: NCAA vs. Delaware

NCAA vs. Delaware

 July 27, 2009, 9:28 am (2 years ago)
In the United States, 4 key pro sports leagues and the NCAA have started up legal action against the state of Delaware in order to reject a new regulation authorizing sports betting in the state.

In a court case filed in the federal court in Delaware, the sports bodies said that the new regulation: “…..would be irreparably-harmful to professional and amateur sports by promoting disbelief and uncertainty that individual plays and final scores of games may have been impacted by factors other than truthful healthy competition.”

Congress prohibited sports betting in 1992 with the exception of 4 states - Delaware, Nevada, Montana and Oregon - that had by now provided it. But the proceedings claim that Delaware’s approach to authorize single-game betting would infringe the state bill since Delaware has never provided single-game betting previously.
