South Korean high roller suing land based casino
July 7, 2009, 7:29 am (2 years ago)According to Agence France Presse, a South Korean addicted gambler who put down more than 30 billion in wagers between 2003 and 2006 at the Kangwon Land casino has appealed for a higher damages award than that by now granted by the courts.
The 67-year-old previously a boss of a company, identified as Chung, is accusing the casino for supposedly triggering his addiction. In his most recent action he is appealing for bigger damages than the 2.8 billion won he was awarded by a court in November last year.
Chung states the government-run casino ignored the fact that he was making bets above the valid limitation. He has originally began gambling on a visit to the casino 6 years ago, and thought he could get back his losses by placing more bets. As his addiction became bigger and bigger, he turned out to be progressively more frantic and irresponsible, trying to avoid the 10 million won per bet limit by hiring up to 5 people as secondary betters so he could wager up to 60 million won at a time.
