Religious group opposing against online gambling
June 14, 2009, 5:38 am (2 years ago)Unsurprisingly, the religious right is rallying to fight against Congressman Barney Frank’s proposed legislation targeting at controlling and licensing online gambling in the United States.
As said by the publication Christianity Today some Christian groups penned a letter this week advising politicians in the House of Representatives to go up against Frank’s HR 2267 Internet Gambling Regulation, Consumer Protection, and Enforcement Act.
But an extensive general statement that is not advocated by methodical study and fact is made when the letter claims: “The occurrence of gambling addiction is 3 to 4 times higher with Internet gambling vs. non-internet gambling. … online gambling characterizes a highly insidious and irresponsible form of taxation dependent on human exploitation.”
It’s an ordinary, and never proved, claim made by opponents of online gambling.
